No I'm not talking about stoned as in herb. A story broke yesterday about an Iranian woman who was convicted of adultery (confessed through torture). Her sentence was to be buried up to the waist and stoned for a few hours (with rocks small enough to not kill her instantly). They were going to do this until she finally died but they wanted to torture her some more first.
An international outcry rang out across the internet and today they decided that they wouldn't carry out the sentence. I'm amazed by this actually, not because of the Old Testament style punishments. No I'm amazed that Iran didn't get smaller rocks after the international outcry, just to make it worse on her.
Here's the story:

Night Vision Monocular
This is a pretty cool deal. I've always wanted to be able to see in the dark. I've always thought that the technology was expensive. I didn't realize one could buy a night vision monocular for this cheap. It uses an infrared flashlight to illuminate the surroundings. IR isn't visible to the human eye so no one will see it. This means that the device can be used in a completely dark area. Some of the other devices use starlight and such to illuminate the environment. This one does not.
Newton NV Night Vision monocular Multicoated lenses With Built-in IR illuminator -- Great For Camping And Hunting
While I'm on the topic of product reviews, I'd like to say that I've been extremely impressed with my Seagate FreeAgent 500gb external drive. I have had a few external drives, and this one so far has been my favorite. It doesn't require an external power supply. It gets its power from the USB port. It's small, compact, and easy to carry around. It's almost unnoticeable in a laptop case. I recommend these things to anyone who wants to keep a backup of their pictures, music, videos, etc. They have more than enough room.
